The fin in the back is going to be a trick. It has to match in seamless, but can't be permanently attatched due to the
zipper. Originally the fin was made of the sealant, but it was way too heavy, and wouldn't dry on the tin foil. So, plaster
was poured over this, and a mold was made. Latex rubber was poured in. A reverse mold will have to be made in order to get
the other side, and the two halves will be glued together. They can then be sewn or velcroed on the suit, allowing a mostly
seamless look.
The original sealant fin that didn't work. This was then covered in plaster to make a mold.
The plaster fin mold shown below, with liquid latex curing inside.
The first half of the rubber fin from the plaster mold.
Shown here are two halves of the creature fins, which will be glued together with more latex rubber. They will then be
trimmed, and ready for the back of the suit.
...And here is the fin, trimmed and attached to the backpiece.
For the backpiece, a plaster mold had to be made of the back of the suit. Once removed, liquid latex was poured in, and
then peeled out when dry. The fin was sewn on, then the seam sealed by more rubber. Velcro will be added, and with a little
"makeup" after the suit is on, it should match in seamless.
